Ryan McCourt: Hambidge Suite

JAN 20, 2018 – FEB 16, 2018

Celebrate our gallery’s tenth anniversary at the opening reception of “Hambidge Suite”, a new exhibition of pictures and sculptures by Edmonton artist Ryan McCourt, opening Saturday, February 3rd, from 2-5 pm, at Common Sense: 10546 – 115 street, Edmonton. Admission is free, and the artist will be in attendance.

“Hambidge Suite” presents new photographs and sculptures created by Ryan McCourt during his recent four-week residency at the Hambidge Center for Creative Arts and Sciences, in Rabun Gap, Georgia, USA. McCourt’s landscape photographs in the exhibition highlight the rustic beauty of the residency setting, documenting the compelling visual effects of changing light, atmosphere, and viewpoint. His intimately-scaled sculptures on display, assembled in an isolated cabin/studio on the grounds of the Hambidge Center, are composed of an assortment of brass objects, sourced from searching innumerable antique shops in the region, from Tennessee to North Carolina, and across North Georgia.

The Hambidge Center provides a residency program that empowers talented individuals to explore, develop, and express their creative voices. Situated on 600 acres in the mountains of north Georgia, Hambidge is a sanctuary of time and space that inspires individuals working in a broad range of disciplines to create works of the highest caliber.
